Space as a manufacturable unit

Every space can be reduced to repeatable units. A kitchen comprises seven, a wardrobe four, a living-room wall three. The originality of a design lies in how those units are combined — not in the units themselves.

How many materials meet in one room

A single living-room wall carries timber slats, lacquered panel, glass, bronze mirror and metal profile at once. Putting them side by side is easy; deciding where one stops and the next begins is not. This chapter shows the materials one at a time; the junctions are in Chapter V.

One carcass, six different readings

The carcass is built to the same principle on every project; what changes the room is the surface. Matt lacquer calms, gloss enlarges, timber warms, and a colour turns a room into a child's room. Colour is matched against an NCS or RAL reference, and a spare panel is left at handover.

It will open every day for twenty years

For hinges, runners and lift systems we specify European-manufactured hardware only; nothing rated below 80,000 tested open-close cycles enters a specification. Lighting is hardware too: how many lumens reach a vitrine shelf decides how clean the glass looks.

The quality of the work is where two surfaces meet

Anyone can build a carcass. The difference appears on the line where panel meets wall, timber meets metal, worktop meets basin. The details below are our standard solution set; project-specific junctions are developed on top of them.

One hand, six different rooms

When one workshop makes the whole home, the rooms recognise each other: the same joint width, the same handle family, the same edge radius. This chapter composes an apartment room by room — not components, but the whole.

You can start without doing a whole room

Not every commission has to begin with an apartment. Each piece below can be built on its own and re-worked to your dimensions — most clients start here, then carry on into the next room.
